Rashid Chehade, Alexandre Samson and Patrick Béland are proud to be the Boogaloo Bros.

It all started out when they sat down together after a salsa class, and shared the same ambition; starting a clothing company geared towards dancers. They all loved Salsa, but they wanted more. Rashid wanted something that was funky and timeless, Alexandre wanted to make something cool that people could associate themselves with, and Patrick, having evolved around the Hip-Hop culture throughout his teens wanted to redefine what Salsa meant from an innocent bystanders point of view.

Rashid Chehade is the promoter and coordinator. Born in Cyprus and Lebanese of origin, he was raised in Montreal since the age of four. Currently studying in Modern Languages (Italian and Spanish) at Concordia University, he’s been teaching Salsa since 2003 at the Salsa Etc. dance school in Montreal. He also took interest in Contemporary Jazz and looks forward to learning different styles of dances to better strengthen the one he is strongest at.

Alexandre Samson is in charge of sales and production. Alexandre was born and raised in Montreal and recently finished his studies in Culinary Arts. Growing up on the same street as Rashid, these two neighbors and long time best friends started taking their Salsa lessons together and soon after completing their classes, started teaching at the same time at Salsa Etc. in the summer of 2003. Alex is passionate about dance. His creativity allowed him to perform in different congresses and show his talented imagination. He has put together choreographies for students and for the professional troop of Salsa Etc. He has always been the member of the family who had a natural ability for dance and is always in search for perfection.

Patrick Béland is the designer. Born in Montreal and drawing for as long as he can remember, Patrick was living like an artist in the nineties, roaming the streets by night to do graffiti, murals and canvases. When the millennium reared its head, Patrick flipped to computers and started building websites, making animations and taking the occasional design jobs for a living. Patrick always wanted to come out with t-shirts, but wanted something more then just “his” thing. For him, the Boogaloo is a way he can express the love he has and shares with his fellow Brothers for dancing and living well. Patrick has been dancing Salsa since 2004, and has since gotten a taste of Tango, Afro-Cuban and practices Lindy Hop, East Coast and West Coast Swing. His ambitions; make it look pretty, and keep his feet moving to the beat.
